My Desktop Free View Tag

Angel Eyes has tagged me - a rather unusual (and 'kay-poh') kind of tag, I might add. :) However, I do not mind it at all. I admit I like tags because it gives me a reason to blog.

After much lamenting about slowing down in my last post, it looks like I am not about to take a long sabbatical ... thanks to Angel Eyes.

This tag is about showing the world what my desktop looks like. So, here it is ...

(Harvest Time in Tuscany by Leon Roulette)

I love this picture for two reasons. First of all, the colours are warm and inviting. It makes me feel at home and relaxed.

Secondly, the scenery in the background reminds me of Europe, particularly Italy. I love Italy. Although I have yet to explore all of it, the short visits to Venice and Rome was enough to make me fall in love with that country and its people ... well, almost all of them sans a few who gave me grieve during World Youth Day in Cologne in 2005. It is a story I'll remember for years to come.

As much as I love that country, I really don't crave for pizza or pastas. That is my current preference, anyway. (It may change in a few years). The last time I ate pizza was six months ago in Rome. Pastas are okay but I much prefer dishes with servings of meat and vegetables.

Ah! but I love Italian wines, particularly their sweet dessert wines made from moscato grapes. I am not a wine expert. So, I will stop here. I dare not elaborate on this topic lest I embarass myself. I am still learning from this website and a book I bought about two years ago, titled K.I.S.S. Wine. (see below)

Now, back to my desktop, you will notice that I have very few icons (compared to some I have seen!). I like it that way because it is neater. That does not mean my computer desk is organised. Heck! don't even ask me about my house because I dust if I must. :)

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture or write a letter
Bake a cake or plant a seed
Ponder the difference between want & need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time
With rivers to swim and mountains to climb
Music to hear and books to read
Friends to cherish and life to lead

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain
This day will not come round again

Dust if you must, but bear in mind
Old age will come, and it is not kind
And when you go and go you must
You, yourself, will make more dust

Nobody dares to comment for fear of being tagged hahaha. Pls dont tag me as my desktop is too cluttered and i dont want people to see it.

Jacqui, my desktop is so choc-a-bloc at the moment - it will need a thorough spring clean to throw certain things out and put certain things in folders --aaargggh!
so that means a no to this tag. (but I'll look very closely at your desktop to see what you have been up to!)

Hi Zawi

So true! hahaha
Don't worry, I will not impose this tag on you or anyone. I would not have done this tag if I had a cluttered desktop.
Much like my house, I will need ample warning if someone wants to drop by for a visit. :D

So my friends, you can comment away, I won't take it as a hint that you want to be tagged ... unless you say so. ;)

Hi Kak Teh

No problem, Kak Teh. You don't have to pick up on this tag. I understand completely.

My desktop may give away some clues of what I have been up to but truth be told, most of those icons have not been used in weeks. The only one that I click on almost everyday is Internet Explorer - my doorway to emails and blogs. :)

Very beautiful desktop photo. I just love the grapes in the photo. I'm eating like hell now here, but the session is almost at the end. Glad you have a nice memory of Italy. I have to say that I won't visit Rome again, but don't mind trying out Venice.

Hi JT,

Such a neat desktop you've got there... which reminds me to start cleaning mine.... :)

Have a good day sis!

jt,
Sorry, long time no see you here (I mean - me).

As for your desktop free view tag -you know what? I had only learn how to use printscreen this week due to a technical problem that I had. I guess, we're never too old to learn sumthing new right? Maybe I'll give it another try by this tagging business. No promise ya.

BTW, I've been secluded in my little corner of the world but I do remember Uncle Lee - what has happened to him? I mean the blog..Am I missing the ride again? And you're the only one that I can think of...please?

That is one beautiful picture. I would love to visit Italy some day and the whole of Europe.

Hey Jacqui,

Whoa...The 'Dust if you Must' came from a post a looooong time ago! I remember it! =)That was among the first posts of yours I read!

My desktop? Has my big fat face on it...What to do? I love myself and damn vain! Hehehehe...

Daphne Ling said...

Oh, and please don't tag me! =)

Your desk top is lovely.

Ahh....Rome, Venice.....I hope to visit them someday. Hopefully before I am too old to enjoy them.

Btw my desk top is a mess, which reminds me it need some tidying up.

And comes to dusting around the house, it is dust if I must, too.

Have a nice day. :)

Hey JT:

What a clean desktop! I liked the picture and noticed it has earth colors too. So you! :) One can sense your preference for these colors just by looking at your blog. Am I right?

Well, it reminds me of this conversation I had with a friend. I am invariably drawn to tops/shirts in shades of pink, magenta, and blue and my friend keeps picking up clothes in shades of green and peach. Natural response :)

Hi Princess Farina

The picture is a bit much for Michael, huh? :D

I am guessing that most men would prefer other pictures on their desktops. ;)

J.T. said...

Hi Bee Ean

Thanks! The grapes do look tasty. Whenever I see my desktop picture, it reminds me to eat the grapes I have in my fridge. :)

Rome was a little crazy for me too but I did not mind it. I think you will like Venice better. I believe going there on a weekday will be nicer. Less crowded and more chances to take pictures without having someone walk right in front of your camera when you are ready to click. :)

Howdy Nightwing

I got the picture from an image search in Google a few months back. When I read your question, I went back to search for the painter's name but could not locate the picture or identify the painter.
I should have saved the painter's name, huh? Silly me. :P

J.T. said...

Hi Nana

Thanks for the compliment. I try not to clutter my desktop with icons. Just like a messy desk, I will eventually find it difficult to locate something I need. :)

Hi Rad

So glad to see you here again. I have been busy myself and have slowed down on blogging/blog-hopping. This is the reason why you have not seen me at your blog too. Sometimes I am a silent reader. :)

Like you, I just learn this printscreen 'trick'. It is good to know and I agree that we are never too old to learn something new.

Re Uncle Lee, he recently decided to stop blogging and has since deleted his blog. He gave no reason for saying goodbye. I miss his blog. He was truly a classic blogger.
To borrow Rita Ho's words, in her tribute to Uncle Lee ... Blogosphere lost an entertaining website of meaningful real life stories from yesteryears ... .
You can find the link the Rita's blog on my blogroll if you wish to read her post.

Hi Dawn

Thanks for the compliment.

I hope you get to see the whole of Europe someday. I would love to return there to see the parts we missed. We covered what we could while we were living in Germany.

J.T. said...

Hey Daphne! *hugs*

Been a while huh? Miss you lar...

Oh! you remember. Yes, 'Dust if you Must' was among the first posts of mine. Seems like ages ago. :)

Nothing wrong with having your own photo on your desktop. One has to love oneself before being able to love others.
Although, I must say there is a huge difference between loving oneself and being obsessed with oneself. hahaha
I dare say you are in the former group. You give lots of love sincerely with the volunteer work you do. :)

J.T. said...

Note to self: DO NOT tag Daphne. :D

(and Zawi, and Kak Teh) :)

Hello Aiyah Nyonya

Thanks for the compliment.

Sometimes it seems like the only time we can visit the countries we have on our list is when we are slightly older. (I still have some countries yet to be visited and can only foresee doing it much later in life. Too many monetary commitments currently). :)

Here's wishing and hoping that you get to do it when you are still young.

Glad to know that I am not alone with the dusting habits. :)

J.T. said...

Hey Rashi

You are absolutely right. I love warm tones and am invariably drawn to such colours. Sometimes, I tear myself away from them just to add an element of surprise but am very careful about it. I do not want to look too 'sickly' with some colours. :)

Hi JT, love that desktop painting, typical Italian country scene.
I too love Italy and Roma as well Italian cars and of course Sophia Loren who can still make my blood pressure hit 5.9 on the richter scale.
By the way, thats a lovely pair of sunglasses you wearing, looks real cool. Christian Dior? Vera Wang?
Ciao. Sugee cake.

Hello JT! Sorry I haven't been here for a while. I've been quite pre-occupied with my new hobby (guilty guilty guilty) :-P ...

BTW I'm not here to volunteer for this tagging :-P . No. I just want to say that you seem to like paintings such as the one on your desktop, am I right? Cos you have something similar for your blog header. I'm not really the art-sophisticated type, I wouldn't know who drew what, but the picture's nice, really. Yesterday I went to an interior deco shop and saw some kitchen stuff with pictures similar to the one on your screen, and I immediately thought "Hey, that's so Jacqui!" :-P ...

Hello, J.T.!

Hello Anonymous a.k.a. Sugee Cake

Nice to see you here again. :)

You made me laugh about the 5.9 richter scale effect that Sophia Loren has on you. (psst.. Colin Farrell has that same effect on me. :D)

Thanks for the compliment on my sunglasses. It is not designer wear... well, at least not any of the famous brands. It is German-made.

J.T. said...

Hi Blueberry

Long time no see and no apologies needed. :) We are all caught up in our own daily lives and can only blog hop when time permits.

You are right. I like paintings but I can only identify some painters and their works. I don't think I am too much of an art sophisticate. I certainly don't have the financial means to invest in art. ;) Nevertheless, I appreciate the beauty of art and will find ways to 'own' a piece. For instance, I am currently cross stitching an art piece by Thomas Kinkade. (See on right side of my blog, below the blog roll.) That project will take me about 4 months (I think). :)

So, what's your new hobby?

The Blueberry said...

JT,

My new hobby is my art lalalalalaaaa!! LOL, I'm very perasan really... But I've just got myself a new camera and I've been trigger happy and I think I got some good-enuff pictures to decorate my new home when we move in!!! Hee hee heeeeeeee...

Jacqui ... I was tempted to pick up the tag to show-off my clean desktop which has only 3 icons - Firefox, IE and Recycle Bin. Haha! Truth is I have my favourite bird-of-paradise flower as the background and didn't want any "dirt" on it. I think I need a FT job.

Your picture is a good choice for the reasons given. Paintings like it are hard to come by these days.

Thanks for sharing the warmth and also the dusty poem. I am so not holding the Swiffer until Tksgiving week!

J.T. said...

Hello David

Thank you for the compliment.

Hope you had a good weekend.

J.T. said...

Hi Blueberry

Ah! You have a very interesting hobby. You should post some of your art on your blog. I would love to see them. :)

J.T. said...

Hi Winnie

Thanks for the compliment. You are correct. Everytime I see that picture on my desktop, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :)

J.T. said...

Hi Rita

You should pick up on the tag. I have never seen a desktop with just three icons on it. It must look so 'clean'. :)

My Swiffer gadgets will see some sunlight this week. :D I do not feel like cleaning up Thanksgiving week. Besides we will be away for a few days.
If I have the energy and time this week, my carpets are going to get steam-cleaned.

jt,
Thanks for the update!
Aww man... it's so true now that we lost a good read - Uncle Lee is more than just a good read actually. He's a gentleman through & through. I wish I had the take the time to say a proper goodbye or perhaps he might come out again another day eh?
My printscreen is so boring anyway...

J.T. said...

Hi Rad

You are spot on - Uncle Lee is a gentleman through & through. I hope he returns to blogging some day. I know many of his regular readers miss his "ceritas". :)
