The Lady's Visit - Part 2 of 3

Before our trip to Natchitoches, we made a quick stop at my old neighbourhood (the lake area). I needed to check on the house - to make sure that nothing got blown off or broken by the recent bad storms. We decided to walk down the pier and take in the view of the lake. It was so serene and breezy.

If we had time to relax, we would have put out a couple of chairs, brought out some drinks and spent the whole afternoon there.

Due to our long road trip the next day, we were back home by 5:00pm. We were going to stay with my friend, Marion, in Copperas Cove, Texas for three days. My dog, Peanut, knew something was up. He was watching me intently as I got the dog carrier ready, a bag of his food - one packet per meal, his soft pet bed, towel and blanket. (Yes, I pamper that little mutt!).

We took off about 8:00am next morning and it looked like we packed for a week's stay. Pat and I always had the habit of bringing a little extra on our trips ... just in case. :) Peanut got over excited when he saw me reach for his leash. I had to wait for him to calm down before I could hook it on to his collar.

We made a three pit stops on the way - Jasper, Texas for breakfast, Indian Village, Texas for bathroom break and a little shopping for Pat. She was in search of some native souvenirs from the Alabama-Coushatta tribe.

The Alabama-Coushattas (ah-lahbam-ah-coo-SHAH-tuhs) consist of two allied tribes, originally from Alabama. They have a small reservation in the Big Thicket of East Texas. To help them economically, they have developed several successful tourist attractions. To learn more about Indian tribes in Texas, click here www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_bk_p4000_0016.pdf

Our third stop was in Copperas Cove, just before arriving at Marion's house. We were so hungry and in need of a bathroom - we could not wait. Besides, I did not want to arrive at Marion's and request to take a tinkle immediately. We relaxed that evening with good food and company. Marion and her husband had some friends over and they fired up the grill. We had barbequed beef and potato salad.

Next day, Marion took us to Fort Hood, Texas. Fort Hood, a military base, is located outside of Killeen, is the only two-division post in the United States, and is the home of III Corps. The two divisions on the base are the 1st Cavalry Division and the 4th Infantry Division. (from Wikipedia). We took a drive through the army post and stopped by to visit the 4th Infantry Division Museum.

My other vehicle ... :P

After an interesting walk through their memorial park (dedicated to the fallen soldiers) and museum, we decided to get something eat.

Pat and I have never been to Hooters and thought it would be nice to check out that establishment.
Hooters targets male customers with a serving staff comprising only waitresses, although Hooters does employ males as cooks, hosts (at some franchises), busboys, and managers. The menu includes hamburgers and other sandwiches, steaks, seafood entrees, appetizers, and the restaurant's specialty, chicken wings. (from Wikipedia)
We ordered the chicken wings since it was supposed to be well-known. Some men I know swear they go there for that dish. After tasting it, I have to say - liars! The men go there for the waitresses. Clearly, those waitresses looked good in their uniforms with the help of padded, push-up bras. (Having a tight body helps too).

If you have not been to Hooters, and wish to, the closest one (for Malaysians), I heard, is in Singapore.

At Hooters with Pat and Marion.

That evening, at home, we sat around in the living room chatting (in between watching TV) while I checked on my emails and transferred photos from my camera to the laptop (talk about multi-tasking). I contemplated blogging about our trip then but I was too tired from the day's activities to think. I asked Peanut if he wanted to do it. This is what I got from him ....

"Hmm... let's see. What shall I blog about?"

"On second thought, forget it. I am tired and have a headache."

That dog has to learn to earn his keep.

Hi JT, Holy Smoke, and I thought you said you busy, so thinking you MIA did not mosey over. Okay, formalities over...first of all, JT, you look absolutely, delectably...hmmmm, must think of correct word here...ahhh, sensually gorgeous in that stunning red dress in profile, with legs showing at a nice angle too. Gosh, you can cause accidents with that kind of pose too, ha ha.
Next, hoi! Your peanuts is pregnant or overweight? Arhaaa ha ha. And JT, I love the two pics of the dog by your laptop. Ha ha, good picture, JT.
Looked at both this post and previous post...gosh! Love the scenery, that lake especially.
I can imagine myself with my fishing rod in the evenings, sitting on an easy chair, a Bud in my left hand, rod other hand, ha ha.
Hooter girls! Surprisingly I've not stepped into one yet, if you raising an eyebrow, I have not stepped into Starbucks too.
But have seen the Hooter girls on the Net and TV...and I can tell you, if I go, it won't be for the chicken wings or whatever...more likely admire the restaurant decor, heh heh.
Love that pic of you next to the tank....
JT, you stay gorgeous and keep well, Lee.

Hmmm... nice vehicle you got there. Ever thought of driving it around town? :)

Luckily Peanut is a dog... if he was a cat, he'd probably be chasing the mouse around. The computer mouse I mean...

Hi Lee,

I was busy but things have eased up just a little for me, which gives me the opportunity to do some gardening. Sometimes I wish I had more than 24 hours a day, so I could also get back to reading and cross stitching. :)

And ... thank you for that lovely compliment. *blushing* (I don't get that kind of compliment often - the kind that says I can cause accidents. haha)

Peanut is a male (thus not pregnant) and I realise that photo does show that he is overweight. I swear he is not. haha
When he stands up, he has this lovely V-shape (like body builder). That bump you see in the picture are his ribs. :)
(Thanks for the compliment about Peanut's pictures. He thanks you too for noticing. haha)

Oh yeah... that lake is lovely. Now that summer is upon us, there will be lots of boats out there. When I was living in that area, I used to hear jet skis pass by too.
Lovely atmosphere.

I bet that Mrs Lee's chicken wing dish is better. So there is no reason for you to go to Hooters for their specialty dish. I hear their "decor" is delectable. :D

Thanks for dropping by. You keep well too, Lee.

Hi Pi

It is hell trying to get that vehicle out of my garage. So, it just stays there for show. :P

Hi JT,

Hey, I like Peanuts already :)

And thanks for the link to the NA Natives, I do enjoy reading about their history. Will check out on this later.

Hi Shah (Cakapaje)

It has been a long time since I had a dog that had a unique personality. This one amuses me all the time. :)

There is so much history to read but so little time, don't you think? :)

Hi J.T,

Yes, there is Hooters in S'pore. The girls are not as HOT as in tht US, as you know they have quite a small chest to flaunt. He he... am not saying that i looked down on them but hey we go there just to enjoy our dinner, plus cuci mata. am i right?

J.T. said...

Hi Angel Eyes

Ah! you have been there. There are ways to fix that small chest problem - add-a-cup-size-bra. :P
(I am sure it is sold over there)

You are right ... if Hooters is well known for their busty waitresses, they should keep to tradition. We need to be entertained while we eat. :D

Hi JT, I didn't pop over to look at the 'Hooters' here,...but to ahemm, admire that pic of you in the stunning red dress...if those days happen to be driving by...sure hit the back of a bus or have an affair with a lamp post.
Beautiful ladies like you in these kind of dresses should be banned outside 4 walls, arhaaaa ha ha. Driving can be hazardous as it is...then to slow and look at those, ahemm, seductive femme fatale kind of pose...JT, I better vamoose before my Apple catch fire! Ha ha, stay gorgeous JT, and hold that smile.
Oops! Sorry, thought your dog pregnant, ha ha, and tell Peanuts thank you for his 'woof, woof'. L.

Hi JT,

Hope you don;t mind, can you loan me your vehicle? Sometimes people here do not know how to drive, so need to teach them some road manners...:)

Peanut...so cute...:)

Thanks for sharing the traveling diary...:) You are an excellent guide...with Peanuts as your mascot..:)

Hi Farina

Yeah, I noticed they don't have much on the drinks menu. Not as much as what TGIF or Chilli's offer (as examples). Have you been to Dave and Busters? That is another nice joint. :)

LOL... with that kind of vehicle, I'll have the whole road to myself. :)

Hi Pearly

So nice to hear from you again.

Yes, I had a great time with Pat. It was fun to have a girlfriend from back home to gallavant places. At times, we talked in Bahasa Malaysia so that no one could understand what we were saying (well, I hope so.. haha)

Enjoy your sister's visit. I will talk to you when you get back to your normal routine.

Take care, Pearly.

Hey Rashi

aha! You must have viewed all the pictures in Facebook.

It was so nice to have Pat in town because I was so itching to get a taste of adventure. There were times I was nervous about driving into a city I have never been to but I loved the challenge. We made it! :)

Part 3 will be out next week.

Hi Lee

Oh! here you are again with lovely compliments.... hilarious but lovely.

Thank you ... and "woof woof" from Peanut. :D

Hello Nightwing

Sure, come over to my place and I will give you the keys. Don't forget to fill up petrol before returning it. ;P
Yup, that vehicle will definitely teach people some lessons. One wrong move and you have the prerogative to inflict damage. haha (I am so mean).

Peanut was excited in the first few minutes of our journey. After that, he went to sleep. He only woke up when my car stopped... busy body... wanted to know if we are taking him out or getting something for him to eat. So much for a guard dog, huh? Oh! but he absolutely dislikes motorbikes. He barked at all of them when they passed by me. :D At least I am assured no bikers will get near me, right? :)

im sure u are thrilled to hv Lady Pat with u jt..wishing she will never hv to go home, isnt it? :)

it is always an unforgettable experience when u do free and easy trips, i always remembered mine with my gfs :) the wrong turns, the 'who-cares-lets-just-go-in-to-see/eat/try' attitude...hahah

when u said "Some men I know swear they go there for that dish. After tasting it, I have to say - liars! The men go there for the waitresses." hahaha, i guess men will be men, their eyes will never wonder too far from those "balloons"!

looking forward to ur part 3!

cheers

p/s wonder if peanut is tired becos of watching too much "balloons"? :P
