25 Ways To Tell You're Grown Up
How do we know when we have really grown up? Upon graduation? Moving away from parents' home? Our first job? Our first boy-girl relationship? First car? First home? First marriage?
I say, "age is just a number". Attaining the age of adulthood does not mean that one is mature. It is the accumulation of life experiences. There will come a time (or for some of us, time arrived some years back) when we will feel that we are all grown up.
By the way, if you are still clueless about it (just in case your mind is telling you that you are still young), here are some ways to tell you're grown up:
* Note: This was sent to me via e-mail today. It is too good to let go.

.
Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to take a nap before bedtime. I have to wake up at 6:00 o'clock tomorrow morning. Thank goodness we live in a quiet neighbourhood or I would have the police on speed dial. :)

Hi JT,
Even if all the 25 things do apply, one thing for sure nullifies all that...that when young kids still want to hang around you and still thinks you're hip. That really makes one feel young.
Oh I know darn well I'm all grown up... physically. It's the mind that sometimes insist to remain like a child...
Age is a matter of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
J.T. it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round. And by the way, let sleeping dogs sleep. Never wake them up.
Ah... I believe after reading this post, I am still a KID!!
Muahahahahaha!
Hi JT,
Hilarious list. I am with Elviza. I can't identify with any of the 25..ha ha. Am I in denial? Anyway, I had a big laugh. Cheers dear. Need a nap, but becuz I got back only at 6am..he he.
Me too!!..hehehe..
j.t.
With 6 grandchildren I know I am more than grown. I am old.
Now back in USA you seem to have a better flow of ideas for new postings. Keep it up.
Hi Tony,
That is true. We forget how old or grown up we are when that happens.
“What is an adult? A child blown up by age.” - Simone de Beauvoir
Hi Pi
"Age is a matter of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." :) I so agree with you.
To quote Henry David Thoreau - "None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm."
I believe as long as we have a zest for life, we will always remain young.
Hello Rajahram
Sometimes sleeping dogs need to wake up. :D
They need to replenish their bodies with food and water so they can go right back to sleep again.
Hi Elviza
A kid at heart, my dear. Keep it up. Life is more fun that way. :)
Hi Ruby
I had a good laugh too when I received this list. Happy to say I don't identify with all 25 but getting there. Good to laugh at oneself at times.
I say, "what matters most is that we are still young at heart."
Hello JT, as far as I am concerned, and I know it, my wife knows it, my friends here know it, I have not grown up. And I guess I never will nor intend to, not until a young lady offers me her seat in a bus, or holds my arm and escorts me across the road, my unleaded Jack Daniels taste funny, or...I am led to pasture, ha ha.
There's still lots of things I have not done here yet, maybe like discreetly bringing a grass snake to a Woodstock gathering or an Elvis Impersonator's show, ha ha.
Nice post, JT, nothing like some smiles to bring on the day. Lee.
Hi Nightwing
Isn't it ironic that when we were young, we could not wait to be older? We even jacked up our ages at times. Now that we are *ahem* older, we say we are still young ... at heart. :D
Hello Zawi
I guess I can think a little clearer now that I am back in my own place and do not have other pressing matters on my mind.
Anyway, you said you are old but what I think is more important was said by Abraham Lincoln - "And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
i like it when u said that adulthod is an accumulation of life experience... brilliantly said...
anyway... those applicable to me... 3, 8 (never had a 130 days vacation though), 9, 11, 13, 16, 17, 22, 25... damn... 26!!!!
Hi Lee
From your comments and posts, I see that you have so much zest for life. I agree that are still a lot more things to conquer. Life should not slow down unless we make it so.
P.S. I am imagining the crowd running helter-skelter with a snake in their midst. haha
Hey Zewt
Thank you, my friend. :)
I suppose they were referring the 130 days vacation to the school/college breaks one gets.
Good to know that you did not identify with all 26 points. :D
By the way, maybe if we replace no. 18 with roti or some sort of mamak food, some may identify with that.
No. 22 applies to me. I paid the price on my last flight back to the States. "I'm never going to drink that much again!" :D
Ya agree with you...hehe...now i am always tell my friends i am 21 at every birthday...cause 21 legal age ...hehe
hmm..hope u don;t mind...u have been tag.
autumn greetings from belgium JT! another good one babe ; ) woke me up from my slumber cos my 21 month old daughter Nora woke us up at 5.30am this morning, gggggrrr, she's off at school till 1pm today, so get some quiet time to try and get some shut eye on the sofa but my back will hurt afterwards heheheheh Hv a fabulous weekend JT, keep those entries coming....
JT, u r right, when young want to get older cause a lot of restricted places can;t go. Once reach the age an over...want to get younger.
hehe. for me...Young at heart...no matter the age.
Hi J.T.,
What a great way to cheer up my Friday morning. All the 25 applies to me and would also add that to lose 1lb of is an effort now. I must be getting old but in denial because I know most of the time I still act like I'm a kid but my body is saying NO!
You have a great weekend, J.T.!
Hi Nightwing
And .. when someone asks me my age, I like to say I am 29 with 11 years experience. The age 29 remains but the years of experience keeps adding as I get older :D
We will always be young at heart. :)
Oh! By the way, Nightwing, I don't mind being tagged. It gives me something to blog about.
I will drop by Gotham City to pick up the rules. :)
Hi Mush
Thank you, dear and autumn greetings to you too. Well, it is not quite autumn in Louisiana yet. We are still having some horrendous heat here (compared to Central Europe).
Wishing you backache-free naps on the sofa. Enjoy your weekend. :)
Hi Dawn
Oh yes, I have noticed that too - losing weight gets more difficult once we pass a certain age. :D
You have a great weekend too, Dawn.
those are very true tho im a grown up woman a long time ago. even before i was married or even in a long-term relationship, my frens wud come to me asking for advice on their bf or hubby. once i got a call fr my good friend at 3am crying her eyes out when she found out her hubby was having an affair.
michael said to me last weekend tht he wud like to be 21 again and i told him tht i wouldn wanna be 21 again. i like being 36 going 37.
no 22 really hits home! sigh... lol!
Hi Princess Farina
Oh dear, I feel sorry for your good friend. A 3am call is usually a bad one. Luckily you were there for her.
I am with you on not wishing for the younger days. Sure, I like to remain young but I would not trade what I know now for the mindset I had at 21. :) Since there is no fountain of youth anywhere to reverse aging, I will take growing old with the wrinkles, aches and pains. hahaha
There are so many more things to conquer that I want to look forward not backward.
Have a good weekend, Farina. :)
Hello JT, Where did you took the picture from (profile)...very nice.
You have a great weekend too.
Hello Nightwing,
Thanks for the compliments. :)
That photo was taken on a restaurant's balcony in front of the Colosseum, in Rome.
Keep well, Nightwing.
Hey JT,
I loved going through this one. :) Most don't apply. yay! :D
While on holiday in Thailand recently, we were on the move all the time. Meals we had at all odd hours. On one such day we were at the night market (9pm-1am).. Hadn't eaten and were exhuasted and ravenous.. couldn't decide whether to go back to the hotel, eat, and sleep or pick up some juice from 7-Eleven, get a foot massage, and then go back to the hotel, eat, and sleep. We opted for the latter. That night we had red curry chicken and steamed rice at 2:30 am.. crazy, isn't it? :)
I had a good laugh reading j.t. :) and I identify with less than half on that list. Perhaps i'm only want to think I'm just 'half grown up'? :P
have a great weekend j.t!
most of it are so true...I think the 6.00am waking up time is hilarious coz I had one of those encounters not too long ago. So when I read it, it tickled me to bits.
good stuff!!
JT dear :
25 there I think I already scord hehhhe 23 hahhhah don't have to say you know wat it mean ahhahaaha.
gud one make my satnight a gud laught too.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ditto!
I echo on number 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 ... OMG, I am getting old! (hehe!)
There's a saying, we let ourselves be if we want to be. And there's another, we be what we are in, e.g. if we mingle more with the younger ones, we tend to think like the younger ones.
What do you think?
Hi Rashikaps
That sounds like a crazy holiday but totally enjoyable. It is fun when your holiday companion goes with the flow too - makes a huge difference.
I believe that you will always be young at heart. ;)
Hi Winnie
There you go - 'half grown up'. :D
I could not identify with everything there either. I may be getting there but I suspect never all listed. For instance, I don't mind a $4.00 bottle of wine. It still can be pretty good s*%t. haha
You have a great weekend too.
Hi there cuz (Melissa)
Isn't it hilarious? I can remember the rare occasions when I walked in the house around 6:00am. ;) Other times, it averaged 3:00am. Those were the days. :D
Hi Pearly dear
23 out of 25 - almost grown up. ;)
And ... for the fact that we are at home blogging on a Saturday night, it is another sign, no? :D
*hugs*
Hey JT,
Deng...I'm still a kid then...Haha!
But then again, so many of those numbers are about drinking and booze and all, which means, it looks like I will never grow up!
Yippie!!!
Oh wait...That doesn't sound too good all of a sudden *Hmmmm*...
Oh well never mind...
I'm young, I'm young, I'm young!
Hehehe..
Hello Restless
Welcome to my blog.
You wrote: "... if we mingle more with the younger ones, we tend to think like the younger ones."
I agree. The younger ones do have that effect on us. Then again.. if we want to. As you said, "we let ourselves be if we want to be."
Thanks for your thoughts. Hope to see you around. :)
hahaha.. I must say, after reading this post, it sure did hit me hard and made me realized I'm all grown up. Gosh! so true and so good!
But one can't help to wonder... do we actually grow up?
Hey Daphne
If I went through this list at 21, I would probably be saying the same thing. My peers were hooking up and breaking up, for instance.
Then again, did you notice that many of us here did not identify with all 25 points - for whatever reason? So, I say we are all still young. ;D yippee!
Hello Gwendolyn
Welcome to my blog. :)
Do we actually grow up? I guess it depends on our experiences and attitude in life.
I think that all of us really do not grow up entirely. There is always that little kid in us waiting to break out, no matter how old we get.
j.t.
Being a late bloomer -I guess I'm not grown up yet! Either that one or I'm old to start with coz I always get up early in the mornings but am listening to all the current hot favourites like Gwen's!
Sleeping on proper beds is so true however...my old bones just cannot take it anymore to simply sleep anywhere.
Hey, I love reading your so-juvenile week! It's not easy to handle the kids or any kids right but somehow you did enjoy it!
Hi Rad
We may show "symptoms" of being grown up but there is no stopping us from feeling and behaving young and hip. :D
Thanks for the compliment on the previous post. It was easier to handle the little ones because I had others to help me. It made the days enjoyable.
Have a great week.
hahaha.. hope u didnt have to spend a night at the air port.
Hey Zewt
Oh no... not the airport. Besides feeling sick, I don't think I can sleep on their chairs in the hall - unless I want to suffer days of back ache. haha
I definitely had to make many stops on the way back home from the airport to relieve that nauseating feeling. yucks!
sigh... my drinking days are over. :)
